Editor Jen (do you like the honorific?) found a pretty cool site called Grammar Blast. It contains grammar quizzes for grades 2-5. I challenge each of you to take the Super Challenge Quiz for each grade level, and post your scores here as a comment. I will be taking the challenges as well.
It’s interesting to see how much I’ve forgotten from elementary school grammar lessons. You may be surprised as well! While my inability to remember what a predicate is does not affect my writing ability, identifying my weaknesses will only help me to better my writing skills in the long run. Identifying your own weaknesses will help you professionally, too.
My scores:
Grade 2 – 100
Grade 3 – 100
Grade 4 – 100
Grade 5 – 95
My score:
Grade 5 – 95
Yay!
I did Grade 4 (95%) and Grade 5 (100%).
I got 100 on grades 2-4 but only a 95 on grade 5 … I got thrown off by the simple predicate!
My scores:
Grade 2 =100
Grade 3 =90
Grade 4 =100
Grade 5 =95
My scores:
Grade 2 = 100
Grade 3 = 100
Grade 4 = 100
Grade 5 = 100
But then you need to understand that I am currently teaching Grade 6 grammar…LOL
Grade 5 = 100
I would have gotten one wrong a couple weeks ago. I just recently learned that commas should go before conjunctions in a series. I was taught to never use commas before a conjunction–ever.
